Live audio routing for iOS

Move sound between apps.

Patchbay sends permitted live audio from another app into a compatible AUv3 effect or sampler. Capture a sound, stop the incoming feed, and listen to the result without rebuilding your setup.

Designed for iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 27 or later.

PATCHBAY

01Source

Live audio from other apps

02Destination

Your AUv3 sampler

A short path from source to sample.

Patchbay hosts the destination Audio Unit and keeps it available between takes. Apple’s system prompt remains in control of when capture begins.

01 / Choose

Connect a destination

Select Live audio from other apps, then choose an installed AUv3 effect or sampler with an audio input.

02 / Capture

Approve and record

Open the destination controls, start recording, and approve Apple’s screen-capture prompt before playing your source.

03 / Listen

Stop and audition

Finish the sample, stop incoming audio, and listen immediately. The same destination stays open for the next take.

Local by design

Your audio stays in your audio workflow.

Patchbay processes captured audio in memory and routes it to the Audio Unit you select. It does not create an account, upload audio, request microphone access, or save screen video.

No analytics No advertising No developer cloud

Built around the way iOS handles audio.

Patchbay works within Apple’s capture controls and AUv3 extension system. Clear boundaries keep the workflow predictable.

System consent

You decide when capture starts

iOS asks for approval each time. Patchbay cannot bypass or dismiss the system prompt.

AUv3 hosting

Use compatible audio tools

The destination runs as an Audio Unit inside Patchbay, separately from its standalone app.

Protected media

Capture rules still apply

Protected content and apps that disallow capture may provide silence. Use audio you have permission to record.
